"TODAY'S ICON"

This monumental work (90x150 cm) represents a biting commentary on the contemporary obsession with iconicity and its price.

Alvin reinterprets the famous Nike Air Jordan, no longer an intact symbol of success and desire, but a shoe that melts, deforming under the weight of expectations and the cult of image.

The title, "Cinderella's Dream Shoe," ironically links the iconic object to a fairytale myth.  If Cinderella lived today, perhaps her "dream shoe" would be this, a symbol of instant success and social status.

However, just like the fairy tale, this shoe also brings with it a dark side: the fragility of aspirations and the lives sacrificed in pursuit of imposed ideals.

The shadow on the floor and the dripping drops add a dramatic dimension, recalling the footprints left over time by those who have fought to be remembered, often at great cost.

Alvin invites us to reflect on the ephemeral nature of icons and the tension between authenticity and appearance in a society obsessed with success and visibility. "Cinderella's Dream Shoe" is a visual warning: what we now consider a dream can quickly turn into an illusion that melts before our eyes.
